How does IPL work?

Glazee Skin devices use special light (IPL) to stop hair from growing back. The light goes through the skin and gets absorbed by the hair, turning into heat below the skin. This heat keeps the hair from coming back. Treated hairs fall out on their own in a few days to a couple of weeks.

After you finish the first set of treatments, you'll need to do regular quick treatments to make sure the hair doesn't come back. The good news is that Glazee Skin devices will stop hair from growing back as long as you keep treating regularly. So, if you keep up with your treatments, you won't have to deal with stubbly legs or underarms again. Yay!

Does IPL really work?

Yes, we've done more than thousands clinical treatments on hundreds of women with different skin tones to make sure our products safely and effectively remove unwanted hair*. People usually see a significant reduction in hair in just 3 weeks with Sapphire+ and 4 weeks with Gen 1. Clinical studies have even shown long-term sustained hair reduction a year after the last Glazee Skin treatment.

Is IPL permanent?

Glazee Skin is the #1 IPL hair removal brand for safe, fast, and permanent hair reduction*. One treatment won't last forever. Use your device once a week for 12 weeks. Hair grows in phases, so stick to the plan until you see the desired results.

After 12 weeks, enjoy up to 99% hair reduction with Sapphire+ and up to 92% with Gen 1**. Keep treating occasionally to prevent regrowth. Glazee Skin devices stop hair from coming back as long as you treat regularly, so no more stubbly legs or underarms!

*Based on clinical studies. **Results may vary.

How long does it take to see results?

You can see visible results in as little as 3 weeks with Sapphire+, and 4 weeks with Gen 1, depending on your own hair growth cycle.

What results can I expect?

Embark on our 12-week IPL hair removal journey for the best results:

  • 3 weeks: Noticeable hair reduction begins.
  • 4 weeks: Significant slowdown in hair regrowth.
  • 12 weeks: Experience an average 73% hair reduction, with some achieving up to 99% reduction* (Sapphire+).

Gen 1 delivers visible results in just 4 weeks, with up to 92% hair reduction after 12 weeks. Enjoy smooth legs after our 12-week program!

*Results may vary after 12 weeks (on legs).

Why do I need to keep using Glazee Skin devices for 12 weeks to start with?

Hair grows in three distinct and consecutive phases, and not all hairs are in the same phase at any one time. Because the IPL treatment is only effective in one particular phase (the Anagen ‘growth phase’ – since you ask), you should follow your treatment regime until you see the desired results. By following the recommended regime, you’re likely to zap any hairs you missed in previous treatments. Simple science! After 12 weeks, you could see up to 99% hair reduction*.

Why do I need to do top-up treatment?

After completing your initial IPL treatment regimen, it's important to continue occasional treatments to prevent hair regrowth. Consistent maintenance sessions are key to keeping unwanted hair at bay.

How long does one session take?

A full body treatment with Sapphire+ can take just 15 minutes or less!

To give you some indication of treatment times:

– Lower legs : about 5 minutes

– Upper legs : about 5 minutes

– Underarm, Upper Lip and Bikini Line : about 5 minute

What's the difference between IPL and laser?

Laser and IPL both target hair follicles using light and heat, but the key difference lies in the type of light they use. In a nutshell, IPL devices produce a wide range of light wavelengths, creating a white flash, while lasers use a single focused wavelength, similar to a laser pointer.

Here's a quick breakdown of the differences:

Treatment Time: IPL has a larger treatment window, covering more area at once, making it faster than laser. Glazee Skin products allow you to complete a full body treatment in under 15 minutes!

Pain Rating: Laser treatment, with its concentrated beam, is often reported as more painful than IPL treatment.

Cost: Laser treatment is pricier due to the expense of generating laser light. IPL is generally more affordable, especially for at-home use.

Longevity of Results: While laser results may require fewer top-ups, both methods need regular treatments to prevent hair regrowth. With Glazee Skin Sapphire+, top-up treatments are needed around every 4-8 weeks.

Safety: IPL is considered safer for at-home use, as its light is less concentrated. Glazee Skin products are clinically proven to be safe and effective, offering salon-standard IPL technology at home.

In a nutshell, IPL delivers comparable results to laser treatments with the added benefits of time and cost savings, all from the comfort of your home. What's not to love?

Is it suitable with me?

IPL is usually safe for most skin tones, but there are cases where it's not recommended.

Hair Colors: IPL doesn't work well on grey, red, or very light blonde (white) hair. Darker blonde hair may show results but might need more treatments.

Dark Skin: IPL is not safe for very dark skin, known as Fitzpatrick skin tone VI. Dark skin absorbs more light and can lead to burns or discoloration. Glazee Skin devices have safety sensors to prevent use on unsuitable skin tones.

Safety Check: Before getting a Glazee Skin product, make sure it's suitable for your skin using their chart. Also, do a patch test before treatment.

Skin Tone Variation: Skin tone in treated areas may be lighter than regularly exposed areas, so keep this in mind when checking suitability.

Not for Certain Individuals: IPL is not recommended for people with skin cancer, skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis, medical conditions like diabetes or epilepsy, those taking medications causing light sensitivity (like some acne treatments and anti-depressants), and individuals with many tattoos or moles in the treatment area.

Can I use Glazee Skin to treat at female pubic area?

Glazee Skin devices are safe for treating the bikini line, but they have not been specifically tested for Hollywood or Brazilian style treatments and are not recommended for such use.

Avoid using Glazee Skin devices directly on the genitals, around the anus, or on mucus membranes, as these areas may have different skin color or greater hair density, potentially causing discomfort, pain, or skin injury. For increased comfort, users can consider lower the intensity.

Can I use Glazee Skin to treat at male pubic area?

Yes, but you mustn’t use the device directly on mucus membranes, directly on the genitals (pubis bone, perineum and scrotum) or around the anus.

Can I use on any part of body?

Most areas of the body can be treated with the exception of: mucus membranes (i.e. inside nostrils, lips of mouth, ears, inner labia), directly on the genitals (including pubis bone, perineum and scrotum), or around the vagina or anus. We don’t advise you treat the facial area above your cheekbones.

Can I use IPL over my tattoos?

You should never IPL over tattoos. This will cause the IPL to target the tattoo and could produce burns and a painful experience. However, going around tattoos to treat an area is fine.

Why do I need to shave first?

For IPL treatment to work efficiently you must remove any hair from above the surface of the skin prior to each treatment, ideally while keeping the root in place.

Therefore, you must shave before treatment.

Can I use on moles and freckles?

No – do not use the device over large very dark freckles or moles.

Are there any medical condition condition that mean that I shouldn't use IPL?

Yes, there are various conditions that might affect your suitability for IPL treatment. These conditions include, but are not limited to:

  1. Skin cancer or any other localized cancer in the treatment areas.
  2. A history of vascular disorders, such as varicose veins or vascular ectasia in the treatment areas.
  3. Skin sensitivity to light with a tendency to develop rashes or allergic reactions.
  4. Diabetes.
  5. Lupus erythematosus.
  6. Porphyria.
  7. Congestive heart disease.
  8. Skin infections, eczema, burns, inflammation of hair follicles, open lacerations, abrasions, herpes simplex, wounds, or lesions in the treatment areas.
  9. Hematomas in the treatment areas.

This list is not exhaustive, and if you need further clarification, it's advisable to consult with your doctor.

I'm taking medication - does this affect my suitability?

Yes. Certain medications and skin care products can have photosensitive properties which can cause an adverse reaction to IPL treatment.

Please check the advice leaflet of any medication or skin care product containing active ingredients you are currently using and, if you need further clarification, check with your doctor.
